Sean Qian

Prof. Sean Qian is the H.J. Heinz III Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, with a primary appointment in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering and a secondary appointment at Heinz College. He directs the Mobility Data Analytics Center (MAC).

He completed postdoctoral work at Stanford University's Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (2011–2013) and earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from UC Davis in 2011, where he was affiliated with the Institute of Transportation Studies.

Research interests

Infrastructure management, dynamic network modeling, intelligent transportation systems, data mining, infrastructure resilience, urban systems interdependency, multi-modal transportation, parking management, transportation economics, and traffic operations.
