Dr. Weiran Yao earned his PhD in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University. Before joining MAC he spent a year as a research assistant at City University of Hong Kong, applying social-media analytics to design-decision support for transit-oriented development in Hong Kong.
He is now a research scientist at Salesforce AI.
Research interests
Network effects of technologies, approximate dynamic programming, reinforcement learning, last/first-mile mobility, vehicle routing, and ridesharing.
