The existing on-street parking infrastructure struggles with efficiency challenges. While sensing technologies have been deployed, they suffer from relatively low reliability and high expenses of installing and maintaining parking sensors, limiting scalability. Traditional fixed parking rates fail to respond to fluctuating demand patterns.
The proposed system addresses these limitations through five key advantages:
- delivering accurate real-time occupancy estimates without sensor infrastructure;
- implementing adaptive pricing informed by supply and demand dynamics;
- enabling parking reservations through digital platforms;
- streamlining payment processing; and
- reducing enforcement costs and complexity.
